Sir Arthur William Hill KCMG FRS FLS - Unique, one-of-a-kind antique travelling case that features various travel destination labels, belonging to renowned botanist and Director of Kew Gardens Sir Arthur William Hill KCMG FRS FLS, (b.11.10.1875 – 3.11.1941). He undertook numerous groundbreaking field trips to Iceland in 1900, Andes in Bolivia and Peru 1903 during his earlier academic studies and was a Fellow and Dean at Cambridge University. In 1907 he joined Kew under Sir David Prain and in 1922 succeeded Prain as Director at Kew Gardens, London. During his time as botanist and Director at Kew Gardens, he visited Australia, New Zealand, Malaya, Rhodesia, East Africa, India, the Caribbean, Cyrenaica and the West Indies.
