Miniature Islamic Koran printed for Muslim Soldiers World War I. Copies were frequently issued to Muslim soldiers fighting with the Allied troops. Tens of thousands of Muslim soldiers were sent from India (Pakistan) overseas. Religious artefacts such as Korans and Brahminical threads were of particular importance to Indian soldiers. A charity the Indian Soldiers` Fund was set up in Britain to supply such items.
Approx measures L33mm x H25mm D15mm thick, housed within a white metal hinged locket with foliate design, incorporating a magnifying glass in the upper lid. Also included is an antique Gunther Wagner Pelikan bakelite box
